David Barnett and Bill Mammatt have uploaded images to the Members Showcase. Both members have sent in a selection of their favourite images and illustrate the depth of photographic talent we have in our club. David's images, originating from medium format film negatives, are beautifully observed landscapes, full of colour and vitality, and show an obvious love of the countryside. Bill's selection is a little more quirky, with a leaning towards experimentation in image making, for which he is well known. Regretably we are still waiting for his definitive "Dead Squirrel" study (Club In-Joke !!), but we live in hope. Take a look at Davids Images HERE and Bills Images HERE
Yvonne Wins 2011 - 2012 Chairmans Competition. On September 6th 2011, our first meeting of the new season, we held a much anticipated Chairmans Cup Competition. This years theme was "Cornish Coast", a suitably wide subject for our members to interpret. About 30 entries were judged by our Chairman - David Barnett, who had a difficult task choosing the eventual winners. Nevertheless with good humour and insight the Chairman discussed each image in detail, finally choosing Yvonne Toms LRPS as the winner with her impressionist image of Watergate Bay. Tony Briard has sent me a photo from the One Day Event held at Lanhydrock in May this year, featuring Peter and Yvonne composing their shots of the action.

What's this page then ?
This is a new page, not present in this form on the old website, in which members can inform other members of their news. As you can see I am looking for content and to this end I have started it off with a message to all the members from me. But what I would like to do is post entries from other members on a regular basis. So what type of member news should appear here? If you have won a local art competition or even a national competition - Let Me Know ! If you have made a Blurb book- Let Me Know ! If you have had an image published or made a calendar - Let Me Know ! If you have achieved an RPS or other distinction - Let Me Know ! In short - Let Me Know !
A Message from the Webmaster
As members will be aware, our website has been re-designed and updated. I hope it will provide members and the casual visitor with an attractive, easy to use viewing experience in line with today's expectations and requirements. To this end I have redesigned all the pages to have a common look and feel with identical links and menus. Using a page template has facilitated this process by allowing me to standardise the design for the header and footer elements so that any changes in this area can be updated quickly and easily. The content area for each page will therefore be the only part that changes as you navigate through the site. At this stage in the design I would invite members to provde me with some feedback. I am looking for constructive criticism and I can assure you that all your comments will be noted and where appropriate (and feasible) applied to the sites development.
What I hope for the site is that it will provide members with added value to their membership of the club, a place you will visit to keep up-to-date with news about the club and what other members are doing. Where you can showcase your work to a wider audience and celebrate your achievemnents. In short I want you to get involved with your site.
And so we come to the core of this piece. In order for this site to become vibrant and essential I need members to contribute. This can take a number of different forms. If you have been awarded a place in one of the club competitions then I would like you to send me a copy of your winning image. If you can muster 6 - 12 of your favourite images then send them to me for inclusion in the Members Showcase. If you have won a competition recently then tell me about it, not forgettng to include the image, so I can include it in this page. I have tried to make the process for emailing me and uploading images as easy as possible, together with easy to follow guidelines on how to go about preparing the images you send to me. You can find details HERE on how to go about it. I look forward to receiving your feedback.
