Merit critiques are a chance for members to show their work in a non-competitive environment. Members show their images and the audience will make comments and suggestions in a supportive and courteous manner. You may like to introduce your image, telling us where and how it was taken, but there is no pressure on you to do so. Members find these evenings very enjoyable and the feedback is particularly appreciated by beginner members.
There will be three Merit critiques, one on a set subject and two open. Set subject is suggested by members and agreed at the AGM.
Critique and Forum Evenings are informal opportunities to show images and receive feedback without the competitive element. These evenings are light hearted and very supportive.
Each critique has two sections and are discussed on separate club evenings:
◊ Prints – either colour or black and white.
◊Projected images – either slides or digital files.
Up to three entries are allowed in each section.
At the end of each season, each member may bring back one print and or projected image which they presented in any of the year’s critique evenings. The club will select the image of the year which will be awarded The Kenneth Beard Trophy.
